According to a tweet by Diplo, a Soulja Boy/Major Lazer collab is in the works. Let’s hope it looks something like this:

How do I begin to introduce Kenna? Kenna is the biggest mystery in modern alternative hip hop. His first album, New Sacred Cow was released in 2003. Back then I was in high school, trying my best to convince my friends that this guy was the shit. I failed, and now I’m trying again.
Consider Kenna to be the 3rd member of the Neptunes, along with Pharell and Chad Hugo (They all went to the same school). Though his popularity is constantly waning, Kenna is praised in the industry for his seamless blend of U2-esque lyricism with N.E.R.D-Style beats. Now for the tracks.
That Spank Rock remix has about 7 seconds of dead air at the beginning, so wait patiently.

I’ll let Pat handle the BANGERS. Pictures and tracks coming soon. I’m too lazy to complete this right now.
So I’m sure the 4 people left who still read this blog are wondering:
“Does the Hands Up Blog still exist?”
“Where are my Psuedo-Indie Artists and my Alt Bangers?”
“Does Jon Swan plan on ever talking shit about any other trend I happen to be into?
“How come non of their posts show up on Hype Machine?”
Answers to all of those questions are sure to come. Don’t worry. The Hands Up Blog is here to stay! If there’s ever a post hiatus, don’t blame it on Pat, Jon and I. Blame it on the fact that music sucks right now, and everything else is just “ok.” This is what I can best compare the music of late 2008 to:
Fun for the whole family!
It’s been quite a while since I made a post under the “Local Talent” heading, mostly because I feel like Orlando already knows about the few talented DJs in its relatively small scene. It brings me great pleasure to blog about this particular Orlando DJ; This one goes against the grain.
You may have heard of Adam S under a variety of names such as “The Invisible Hand” and “Famethrowa” but it’s quite likely that you haven’t heard of him under ANY names, because this guy manages to remain under the radar. Adam is a guy who would rather be heard than seen (or scene), as evident in these two tracks.
Eagles of Death Metal – Wannabe in LA Remix
Sorry, but we had to take this one down 😦
I say, EH, could be better. A-Trak dropped his “Say Whoa” LP recently. I generally love whatever A-Trak gets his hands on, but this time around the whole effort is just kind of iffy. The record has the original plus remixes from masters Boys Noize and Sinden, which I also found sub-par. NONE of the songs really get good until about 3 minutes in.
The A-Trak original is the best. The Boys Noize version, while is quintessential “Boys Noize”, just doesn’t really get great, and seems rushed. The Sinden tune has up’s and downs, but never really reaches it’s potential.
I might be over-analyzing these 3 songs, but i expect more from these 3 badasses. BUT the songs are still better then most crap I keep running across, so grab them plus this bonus A-Trak joint which I like a bit better, but again, not great.
